THREE West Ham players I would be happy to see leave in January
As well as wishing for some new players to reinvigorate their season over the January transfer window, West Ham will be also be looking to offload some players to free up the funds to go on a splurge. The question is; who to offload? Currently lying 4 points adrift of safety, and looking more and more likely to spend Christmas Day bottom of the pile, West Ham will be looking to shake up their squad, and become only the second team in Premier League history to render being the basement club on the 25th December an irrelevance. So here are three players that West Ham would be happy to see the back of, and for some the feeling may well be mutual.
Carlton Cole
Divides opinion amongst the West Ham faithful, but is looking increasingly disgruntled in the claret-and-blue, especially since Gianfranco Zola left in the summer. He has recently criticised Avram Grant’s defensive tactics noting that they ‘starved’ him, in particular during the game at Anfield towards the back end of November. As Cole was purportedly going to leave West Ham in the summer for around £9m, there’s no reason to think that he wouldn’t fetch around that sum over January, and if he is unhappy at Upton Park, it would probably be best to get rid of him and get in someone who wants to pull their weight and try to get the Hammers out of the predicament they are currently in.

Kieron Dyer
One of the highest earners at Upton Park, and according to the Daily Telegraph, the highest, Dyer has had an injury-filled career, and his time at West Ham has been no different. Reportedly told by David Gold and David Sullivan to do the decent thing and either prove his fitness or go into retirement like Dean Ashton over the summer, the Davids may well be looking to offload him in January, mainly to get rid of the fiscal burden of his wages if nothing else.
Radoslav Kovac
The former Czech international midfielder has made 38 league appearances for West Ham, and is an able deputy for Scott Parker when he is absent. But with the Hammers being linked with other midfielders in the shape of Jamie O’Hara and Joey Barton, Kovac may well be on his way to make some space for new arrivals.
